Ethical decision-making is a cornerstone of the counseling profession, and navigating complex dilemmas in a rapidly-evolving world requires continuous learning, reflection, and collaboration.  Hosted by members of the WVCA Ethics Committee, his interactive roundtable will provide a dynamic space for counselors to engage in meaningful discussion, analyze real-world ethical challenges, and consult on cases.  Through open dialogue and practical application, attendees will strengthen their ethical competence, enhance their confidence in decision-making, and walk away with actionable strategies for applying ethical principles in modern-day practice.

Further instructions for accessing this training (via Zoom) will be sent out closer to the event date.

3.0 CEs will be available for counselors and addiction/prevention professionals.

Do you have a passion to build the counseling profession in the state of West Virginia?

The Approved Licensed Professional Supervisor (ALPS) credential is your gateway to build provisionally licensed counselors and strengthen mental health services. Your experience and wisdom can outlive you if it’s passed down to those coming behind you! We invite you to attend this clinical supervisor training designed specifically for those working in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia.

If you are eligible and interested in becoming an ALPS for West Virginia, we invite you to register for a two-day training. Please visit the WVBEC ALPS page to see eligibility requirements.

There are 2 parts to the training:

If you have been a counselor for less than 10 years, you will need Part 1 and Part 2 of the training (totaling 30 hours).

If you have been a counselor for 10+ years, then you will only need Part 1 to get your required 15 hours.  Part 2 is still highly recommended.

Parts 1 and 2 are each 15 hours and are only offered in-person.  Part 1 is more didactic and focuses on the policies, procedures, and processes related to being a clinical supervisor in West Virginia.  Part 2 is more experiential and dives further into the role of the clinical supervisor.

We encourage anyone who is an ALPS or interested in becoming an ALPS to take both parts of the training to become familiar with West Virginia-specific requirements, gain clarification or a "refresh" on skills, and build community with other clinical supervisors.

This is the registration for Part 1 taking place in Charleston.

Cancellation policy: Refunds, minus a $25 processing fee, will be made upon written request to WVCA, received on or before May 16, 2025.   No refunds will be given for late cancellations (after May 16, 2025) or no-shows.  WVCA does not transfer registration fees to future events.
